Save Our Parks Benefit Concert

What can we do to save our state parks and recreation lands?

Sign a petition? Check. Write my legislator? Did that, too.

Let's have a little more fun, shall we? Next Thursday, March 24, instrumental guitarist and composer Ronnda Cadle is happy to oblige. She's performing in a benefit concert for Washington Trails Association at the Great Hall at Green Lake at 8pm.

Like regular readers of this blog, Ronnda had heard about the possible budget cuts to state park system and other state recreation lands and wanted to do something to help. "I am so grateful for WTA's platform to help create a Discover Pass that would help restore funding for our parks," she said. With help from WTA activist Cynthia Shulman, the Save Our Parks benefit concert was born.

For the Camano Island resident and veteran musician, Cama Beach State Park has become a sanctuary to come home to. "[Our state parks] are a safe place to stop, look and listen while bringing peace and inspiration to our creative and overworked minds," Ronnda told me. "I get most of my inspiration from traveling and coming home to these beautiful spaces."

Ronnda is about to go on tour to promote her forthcoming album, Will's Embrace. You'll be able to hear many of her new songs live in concert on March 24 - and support WTA's efforts to save our state recreation lands. You can listen to clips from her last album here.

Tickets are $15. Learn more or purchase advance tickets now.
