Blue skies, puffy clouds, high tides, sunset -- the perfect storm for a stunningly spectacular sunset at 2nd Beach, La Push. It made the hike up the trail in the dark worth it. Photo Details: HDR, Nikon D700, Sigma 12-24 lens, f-16, ISO 200, bracketed at 1/13th, 1/26th and 1/6th.

3rd Place winner in the Families on Trail category of WTA's 2012 Northwest Exposure Photo Contest. "By day three of a six day trip from Harts Pass to Cutthroat Lake Trailhead, we arrived hot and sweaty at Lower Snowy Lake. The warm weather and shallow water provided incredible swimming. Fully refreshed, we wandered up toward the upper lake to make camp which is when this picture was taken."

Took this picture of my daughter along the Artist Point trail in the early morning during sunrise. Mt Baker can be seen in the background with a wonderful glow during the magic hour. There were four tarns visible along the trail with some snow and ice still remaining inareas. Last year the road was closed to Artist Point parking area due to heavy snow but this is a great time to visit this area before winter snow starts.
