One of two feeder streams for Lake Wenatchee, The Little Wenatchee River runs west into the Cascade Mountains.

During the summer you can drive on this road almost to Stevens Pass, rejoining Highway 2 at Smithbrook Road, but during the winter months it is left unplowed from the west end of the lake and is used by snowmobilers, skiers and snowshoers as a trail.

Hike along the road for 3 miles, where you will meet with a junction. Turn right, ascending 2 miles to a meadow with views of the Lake Wenatchee Valley. Alternatively, make a left turn and descend to the river in another 2 miles.

In spite of its availability to snowmobilers and skiers, this trail offers total solitude to some, especially mid-week.
