The Phillips Creek trailhead and Flying L Trail provide eastside access to the Glenrose Unit of the Dishman Hills Conservation Area from the Spokane Valley. The 2018 Spokane County Parks acquisition of the 179-acre former "Flying L Ranch" dairy farm and subsequent development of the Flying L Trail have greatly expanded the trail options with additional trail connections being planned for the future.

Now the entire Glenrose Unit of the Dishman Hills Conservation Area consists of 607-acres of County-owned land with an additional 74-acres of land owned by the Dishman Hills Conservancy.

Starting in the Ponderosa neighborhood in the south Spokane Valley, the 2.2 mile Flying L trail climbs from the parking area and traverses a Ponderosa pine forest before breaking out into an open hillside flanked along its lower reaches by an old apple orchard and a small year-round stream. Despite being located between two busy neighborhoods, the trail feels remote and the views are excellent.

The area is perhaps best for its spring wildflower displays, although it is accessible year-round and has something beautiful to offer in all seasons. At the 2.2 mile mark, Flying L Trail intersects Glenrose Trail (west) and The Cliffs Trail (east) for additional exploration options.

At this point in time Flying L Trail is an out and back from Phillips Creek trailhead, although future trails are planned to help create a loop option to return to the start. Please respect adjacent private property owners by staying on trail.
